Hele's School

Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

Why do we teach PSHE?

Our PSHE curriculum gives students the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, to prepare for life and work in modern Britain, and to give students a voice. We challenge them to ask questions and signpost them to additional support where necessary. We encourage high aspiration to maximise progress and to enable all pupils to experience the joy of success. Our aims for PSHE also reflect the PSHE Association syllabus;  we want all young people to feel safe, to feel valued, to have confidence and pride in their abilities through an understanding of our 5 core themes of Health and Wellbeing, Staying Safe On and Offline, Rights, Responsibilities and British Values, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. We ensure that students contribute positively to our school and the community, providing opportunities for pupils to reflect on and clarify their own values and attitudes and explore the complex and sometimes conflicting range of values and attitudes they encounter now and in the future.
